A new version of Sonar is being developed that will bring enhanced features and greater reporting capabilities. We had hoped to be able to upgrade schools using OTrack straight onto this new version during the Summer of 2023, however this has been delayed. Once testing is complete, we’ll be able to give confirmed dates for upgrades and will be in touch at that point.
We appreciate that you may have questions about upgrading, so we have provided answers to the most common questions below.
I was expecting to be upgraded to Sonar over the Summer, as I requested last year. Has this happened?
- These upgrades are on hold until the new version of Sonar is released. You will not be upgraded without being made aware as we will need your assistance to set up the Wonde link to your school's management system (MIS). You can continue using your existing system as normal.
Why is my upgrade taking longer than expected?
- We need to be sure that the new version of Sonar is thoroughly tested before moving schools across.
When can I be upgraded?
- We can’t give a definite date yet, but it won’t be before Christmas. We will let you know as soon as we have a definite timescale.
Is there any option to upgrade sooner?
- Although a few schools have moved to the original version of Sonar, the window to transfer is now closed. It was only done in exceptional circumstances as the additional change for staff could be disruptive.
Can I opt to stay on my existing system for the full year? How can I let you know?
- Yes, we can record this request. If you decide later in the year that you’d like to start the trial, that would still be available.
How can I make sure I’m included in the first upgrade?
- We will be upgrading in several waves, depending on which system you are using. There is no limit to the number of schools that can be included in each upgrade so keep a look out for the emails or let us know you’d like to be included.
If I’m on the waiting list, will I be first to upgrade?
- Schools on the waiting list (those who have previously requested a move to Sonar) will be included in the first schools offered the upgrade for their tracker.
What data is transferred?
- We are working on migration tools to bring over as much of your OTrack data as possible. Further details will be shared prior to upgrade.
Can I carry on entering data into my current system?
- Yes, carry on using your existing system as normal.
Will Sonar allow observations to share with parents?
- Yes, you will be able to enter observations that can be published to parents.
How long can I stay on my current tracker?
- Your current tracker will be available until at least the end of this academic year (August 2024).
Do I have to move to Sonar?
- You don’t have to move yet but it is planned that Sonar will replace our existing trackers at the end of this academic year (2023-24).
Is there any cost to transferring?
- There is no extra cost for transferring to Sonar and your existing subscription will cover your use of Sonar, so you won’t need to sign a new contract.
Will I have the same data reports as my legacy tracker?
- The data reports in Sonar have been inspired by the best reports in Target Tracker and OTrack. The reports are designed to be much clearer than their older counterparts, so some will look a bit different to what you are used to. Some reports have been combined with others for ease of use, whilst others are entirely new. We’re confident you’ll love how easy it is to analyse your data in Sonar.
