Progress From Statutory Assessment Overview Widget
Purpose
Displayed in the Dashboard in Sonar Multi-School, the Progress From Statutory Assessment Overview Widget gives you a visual representation of pupil progress by comparing attainment in the current Assessment Period against previous Statutory Assessment:
- For Year 1 and Year 2, progress for the current Assessment Period is compared with Combined (GLD) attainment that was assessed at the end of the Reception Year.
- For Year 3 through Year 6, progress for the current Assessment Period is compared with Combined (RWM) attainment (Key Stage 1 SATs) at the end of Year 2.
Progress today compared to previous Statutory Assessment is indicated across seven different cells within the widget:
- Not on track and BELOW standard - This group of pupils are at greatest risk because they should be on track to achieve their Age Related Expectation but are not currently.
- Not on track but AT standard - This group of pupils are at risk because they are not maintaining the same level of attainment, and this will impact their APS (Average Points Score) at the end of Key Stage 2 unless it is addressed.
- On track but BELOW standard - This group of pupils are at risk as they are currently below Age Related Expectation for Combined (RWM)
- On track and AT standard -This group of pupils have been assessed as AT or ABOVE in Reading, Writing and Mathematics (but not ABOVE in all three subjects) and who achieved EXS in their previous Statutory Assessment.
- On track and ABOVE standard - This group of pupils have been assessed as ABOVE in Reading, Writing and Mathematics and who achieved achieve GDS in their previous Statutory Assessment.
- Accelerated track and AT standard - This group of pupils are of interest as schools here are making accelerated progress with pupils that may be able to support other areas.
- Accelerated track and ABOVE standard - This group of pupils of interest as schools here are making accelerated progress with pupils that may be able to support other areas.
You can easily identify the number of pupils across the Trust who are on track to reach their current Combined (RWM) attainment. You can also see those pupils who did not previously achieve Combined (GLD) / Combined (RWM) but are doing so now. This may, for example, enable you to determine where Schools within the Trust are adding value. Additionally, you can select a cell to drill-down into a lower level of detail. This opens the corresponding Progress from Statutory Assessment. Using the report lets you see any particular School, Subject or characteristic Group where pupils are not on track. It also enables you to see if there are any trends that are enabling or preventing pupils from achieving Combined (RWM) at the end of Key Stage 1 (Year 2) or Key Stage 2 (Year 6).
Information: Only those pupils with assessment data are included. Pupils without assessment data are not included in calculations. For example, in a Trust comprising 1,200 pupils, if 50 pupils do not have assessment data, only the progress of 1,150 pupils will be displayed in the widget. When calculating percentages, the percentages displayed will be based around the 1,150 who have assessment data, and not the total 1200 pupils in the Trust.
Information: The Progress From Statutory Assessment Overview Widget is only available for those users who are part of an establishment that comprises multiple schools in Sonar Tracker (for example, a Multi Academy Trust) and have the appropriate permission associated with their User ID to access Sonar Multi-School content.

They comprise those pupils in Year 3 through Year 6 who have moved from either EXS (Working at the expected standard) or GDS (Working at greater depth within the expected standard) in Year 2 Combined (RWM) to AT for the current Assessment Period. Tip: These pupils form part of a primary group of pupils who are of the greatest concern as they are not on track, despite being at ARE. They are not making the expected level of progress. As a priority, you should look at opportunities to put in place interventions to support these pupils. |
On track but BELOW standard |
The percentage and number of pupils that are on track but below the standard expected for their age. They comprise those pupils in:
Tip: These pupils form part of a secondary priority group in terms of putting in place interventions to support their progress further. They are on track but their progress is below that which is expected. They should form a secondary priority group, where you should look at opportunities to put in place interventions to help these pupils to be at the required standard. |
