Currently we display and store preferred names in Sonar as this is what schools are familiar with. However it has come to our attention that when CTFs created in Sonar are imported into MIS, this can cause an issue.
Whilst we will look at developing this, we are conscious that you will be keen to import data as soon as possible so suggest the following interim solution;
Editing a CTF, replacing the preferred names with legal names
- If you have tried to import the CTF into your MIS you will have a list of children it could not match as the names were different. Note these down.
- Find the CTF that downloaded from Sonar - it will be zipped and will need extracting - right click and Extract All, continuing to save in the same folder.
- Open the extracted folder and right click on the filename, selecting Open with....Notepad
- Select Edit > Find
- Type in the name of a child whose name you need to change eg Harry and Find
- Edit eg Harry to Harold (NB Do not use Find and Replace as there may be Harry's who need to stay as such!)
- repeat for all other children on your list
- File > Save
- Import this edited file into your MIS
