Adding a New Note
You can use the Notes feature in Sonar to add a variety of Notes about your pupils. These notes can be used to give detailed information to help you provide a better understanding of a child's progression through the year.
To add a new note, you will need to select the Notes button in the left hand menu.
You will then need to select the Add A New Note button in the top right of the Notes screen.
Once you have added your note title, you will be able to use the arrows in the top right corner to move on to the next screens.
You should then select the child/children that the note relates to and move them to the box on the right hand side using the green arrow. If you move the wrong child to the Added Pupils box, simply select the child and use the red arrow to move them back in to the Available Pupils box.
You will now need to select which type of note you wish to make.
Positive Notes
Positive notes can be used to reflect when a child has, for example, gone above an beyond to help another child or has achieved above their expected target in any particular term or test. You can also give badges and points for positive notes.
Negative Notes
Negative notes can be used to reflect when when a child has, for example, taken an item from another child or has interrupted the class. You can also assign badges to these negative notes and take away point previously earned for positive notes.
Incident Reports
Incident reports can be used for keeping a note of things like bullying, disruptive behaviour and vandalism. With this you can record the date and time the incident happened, whether this was physical, verbal, non-verbal or cyber and who was involved in the incident. You can also write a description of the incident.
General Notes
General notes do not have to be positive or negative. They are simply to make a note of things that may impact the child. For example, if a child is going through an EHCP evaluation, you can record anything that you may think may be of use to support the evaluation.
Once you have selected the type of note you are wanting to add follow the Next arrows through, to add further details and complete adding the note.
