There are a number of different user roles available to you. They have been designed to suit different job requirements in the school. The main ones are detailed below:

| Tracker Owner | Account owner | Account owner has the ability to do the same as an Admin user but is also the owner of Sonar account. Only the Tracker Owner can setup Admin users. |
| Admin | Tracker manager | As well as full assessment permissions, also able to make school setup changes such as Objective set. Admin users can setup other users with Write permissions or below, however they cannot setup other Admin users. |
| Write | Teachers or Assessment Coordinators | No limit on Summative or Formative data entry |
| Limited Write | Teacher users or teaching assistants | Summative data may only be entered or edited for the current academic year. Formative data entry is not restricted |
| Read Only | Internal staff who may need access but do not enter data themselves | Read only, no data entry is possible, pupil names are visible |
| Anonymised | Governor or similar stakeholder |
Read only, no data entry is possible, and all pupil names are anonymised |
