A pupil tracker (also known as an assessment tracker) is a software solution, used by schools, for recording and analysing ongoing assessments. These would usually include teacher summative assessments (an overall description of attainment. e.g. Working At Expected in Reading), formative assessments (achievements against curriculum objectives) and the ability to record test results, including any statutory tests put in place by the education authority. The main reason to use a pupil tracker is to enable schools to quickly identify strengths and weaknesses over the broad range of data and opportunities to support pupils to help improve their educational outcomes.
