By definition, governors are giving up their time voluntarily and are usually not from an education background. Consequently, they need to see data that is free of jargon and delivers key messaging. For example, the number and percentage of pupils on track to achieve nationally expected outcomes is a key value that governing bodies should be in touch with. The Age Related Overview report has been designed with this in mind. Also, pupils making expected progress, seen in the Age Related Progress report, along with strategies in place to support those pupils who may be falling behind. Depending on the specifics of the setting there may be other key groups of interest to governors, such as pupils in receipt of Pupil Premium funding or pupils with English as an additional language.
