The Quadrant report is designed to enable comparisons between attainment and progress in order to ensure appropriate judgements are made and inform potential intervention group decisions.
It identifies pupils working below or at age related expectations as well as pupils making progress at or below expectations.
Looking at progress or attainment in isolation can disguise the true picture about how a pupil is getting on. For example, a pupil working below attainment expectations could be making accelerated progress. This would not be identified if your view is purely one of attainment.
Similarly, a pupil could be working above attainment expectations but making poor progress.
The quadrant report will highlight these pupils by placing them in the appropriate quadrant. Specifically:
Upper left quadrant - Pupils are making progress below expectation but are working at, or above, age related attainment expectation. These pupils may be coasting or have had a period of long term absence for example.
Upper right quadrant - Pupils are working at the expected rate of progress and the expected attainment or higher. These pupils are unlikely to be a cause for concern.
Lower left quadrant - Pupils are making progress below expectation and are working below age related attainment expectations. Pupils in this quadrant are those who are most likely to benefit from some additional support through intervention strategies or similar.
Lower right quadrant - Pupils are making progress at or above expectations but are working below the expected age related attainment. These pupils are potentially closing the gap towards being at the age related expectation.
To provide extra detail the actual assessments for the selected periods are displayed alongside each pupil name. This allow the actual range of assessments to be considered without having to run another report.
